Save Our Kids Seminar

saveourkids1Save Our Kids is a six-part seminar series with the intent of enabling parents, judges, lawyers, and other professionals to consider the importance of moving family law conflicts to a more collaborative process rather than one that pits parent against parent. As you are probably already aware parents fighting against each other is harmful to children, parents, and the communities they all live in. This seminar is encouraging a result where children have reduced stress and are no longer torn between having to pick one parent over the other.

These seminars will be archived here for future download and sharing. The first of the six free seminars begins on April 28, 2009 at 8PM EST. Sign up to the right so you receive your personalized log on information!

Attorney Mike Mastracci has said it thousands of times, “Stop Fighting Over the Kids” and it is sound advice that has many attorneys scratching their heads at the simplicity of it all. With the help of Lary Holland, Host and Producer of Get Your Justice Live™, Mike Mastracci is able to deliver a message that just might save thousands of kids, judges, and professionals from being forced into the middle of heated courtroom proceedings between separating parents that have children.

Advocating the use of a technique known as the “Collaborative Law Practice” and in connection with Get Your Justice Live™, Attorney and Author Mike Mastracci has assembled a 6-week course at no cost for lawyers, judges, and parents to come together and examine peaceful alternatives to the adversarial court room duals that often occur during child custody proceedings.

Mike Mastracci was admitted to the Maryland State Bar in 1989 after graduating with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore . Mike also released a resourceful book called “STOP Fighting Over the Kids” in March 2009, available through Amazon.Com, and is also the creator of the popular blog Divorce Without Dishonor ® at http://www.divorcewithoutdishonor.com that includes useful articles, links and resources related to divorce and child access issues.

In an effort to save children from the perils of high-conflict divorce and adversarial child-custody proceedings, this six-week online forum will be provided free of charge. Simply put your email address in the sign-up box (to the right) and take a moment to provide some information so that we may send your personalized log on information for the seminar. We will also periodically share tips that will be useful for lawyers, judges, and parents that are dealing with divorce and child custody issues.

CPS has way too much power. They act like they are concerned for the well being of the parents as well as for the children they open cases on.And they’re not at all concerned about the well being of the parents that have to put up with their crap.

It is my belief that the judiciary is the weakest branch of government. Possibly, it is not the smartest either, as it attempts to apply law where there is no legal remedy. We see this in family court all of the time. This is why family court relies on forensic experts, whether they be accountants or psychologists. But who qualifies these experts? The courts? The professional organizations, eg. the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants or the American Psychologocal Association?
As the former spouse of an aspiring licensed mental health counselor, I can tell you that when I glanced through her learning materials with her I was a bit leary of the anti-family philosophy that was being asserted by these books. She can be our next forensic psychologist. Scary.
It seems as if the ‘legalization’ of divorce and custody has done more harm to the children of divorce than when there was fault divorce.

    People:

We must not isolate the children from their parents by terming anything as to be in the best interests of the child. The child’s best interests are received through both parents, otherwise the state has control of our children. We need to also realize that child support is custody–a mere government-forced monetary compensation (buy-off) for the time children are not allowed to spend (lost) with the other parent, since real support comes directly in the form of time spent together at dinner (providing food), shopping and buying clothes (clothing), activities, entertainment, and overnights (shelter), etc.. A double violation exists in that one parent who is cheated out of time with the child must also pay for it.
